From location to report in 4 steps
No GIS expertise required. If you can click a map, you can build a report.
1. Pick a location
Search an address, drop a pin, draw a boundary, upload a saved one, or choose a drive-time area.
2. Choose your analysis
Select mileage radii or drive times. Censable resolves the underlying Census geography automatically.
3. Get instant insights
We aggregate Census block-group data into population, income, housing, employment, education and commuting — each with an AI-written summary.
4. Export & share
Download a polished PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, or CSV report — with editable charts — to share with your team or clients.
Built on block-level data — aligned across every census
Accurate small-area numbers and comparable trends come down to how the data is aggregated. Here's exactly how Censable does it.
Start at the block-group level
Rather than approximating from large tracts, Censable works from Census block groups — the finest geography ACS data is published at — for every area you analyze.
Clip precisely to your shape
Each block group is measured by its true fractional overlap with your radius, drive-time, or drawn boundary — grid-sampled, not a simple centroid test — and the water portion of each block group is excluded.
Aggregate with real weights
Counts are summed by overlap × land share; medians like age, income and home value are weighted by the relevant population or housing units. The exact same blocks and weights drive every metric.
Align across census vintages
The Census redraws block-group boundaries every decade, so each historical year is computed on its own matching vintage geometry — clipped to the identical physical footprint. No cross-vintage GEOID guessing, so trends are truly comparable decade over decade.
Sources: U.S. Census Bureau Decennial (2010, 2020) and ACS 5-Year estimates, with TIGERweb boundary geometry per decade vintage. Context geographies (county, MSA, state) use the Census Bureau's pre-tabulated published figures directly.
What makes the report different
Censable doesn't just pull the data — it interprets it, tracks it over time, and puts it in context.
AI does the reading for you
Plain-English narratives explain every section, so you spend time deciding — not decoding tables.
History and forecasts built in
Each metric is shown across Census vintages with trend lines and projections, not just a single snapshot.
Benchmark against everything
Compare your area side-by-side with multiple radii, drive times, the county, the MSA and the state.
